CBD oil is everywhere. From 7-11 to Shop Rite to your local vitamin store, it feels like you can’t step foot in a store without being barraged with CBD products. There must be something to it right? Well, there is. But is it right for you and if so, how do you know what to buy? You can ask Dr. Google or go to your local vitamin store and rely on their input or you can find someone who has taken hundreds of hours of classes and training. With some products costing hundreds of dollars, I know where I would spend my money. I can’t tell you how many patients I’ve seen who said “Oh, CBD didn’t work for me”. When I ask them where they got it, the answer is usually “from a friend” or “at the vitamin store”. When I ask the if the product was third party certified, they ask “what does that mean”. When I ask what the strength of the product was or how they were doing it the answer is “huh?” Making sure you have a product that is what it says it is, knowing the strength of the product and knowing how to dose it for your individual problem or situation often makes the difference between CBD having an effect on your problem and simply wasting your money. So, what is CBD good for? Here is a short list:

Pain Relief and Anti-Inflammatory - Cannabinoids occupy pain receptors and thus reduce pain. They also act as an anti-inflammatory and are effective in treating arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. CBD oil can provide natural, effective pain relief without the side effects of pain medications.

Smoking and Drug Withdrawals - Researchers have found that CBD oil reduces the symptoms associated with withdrawal from drugs and nicotine.

Neurological Disorders - Studies have shown promising results in the treatment of epilepsy and nervous system injury or degeneration. This includes diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

Cancer - CBD oil has demonstrated an ability to prevent the spread of cancer and increase the body’s ability to destroy cancer cells.

Stress/Anxiety/Insomnia - CBD oil is effective in treating all of these problems and these problems of some of the most common we see in our clinic.

OK, this seems to fit the bill for me, now what? Finding someone who has taken training and has clinical experience with CBD oil is critical. If a brand is not third party certified, they can put any label they want on it. When a product is third party certified, it has been independently tested for purity, ingredients, and strength. We have researched dozens of brands and have had our patients on them, so we know what works and what doesn’t. I used to carry a brand that was close to $200 for a 1 oz. bottle and it simply did not work as well as the brand that I now carry that is less than half the price for a 2 oz. bottle! Knowing how to properly dose and when to adjust dosages is also critical. Each of the above listed conditions requires a different dosage to properly manage the condition. On top of this, each patient is different, so this also needs to be taken in to account.

CBD is not for everyone and not for every condition. But when it can help, the right product and the right guidance can make all the difference. Call today to find out more!
